Recon Scout Robots
Send In The Recon Scout!
Know before you go! Recon Scout "throwable" robots serve as your "man on the inside"
for a broad range of military, police, security, and rescue applications. In any
dangerous, hostile, or confined environment, you'll instantly get critical visual
intelligence that can save lives and reduce property damage.
No specialized training is needed to operate the Recon Scout, and it's small enough
to be carried on a belt or tactical vest. Throw it or remotely maneuver it into
any dangerous, hostile or confined environment. You'll instantly get real-time reconnaissance
video that enables your team to act quickly, safely, and decisively.
Typical Applications
- Active Shooter Reconnaissance

Recon Scout® Throwbot™
The Recon Scout Throwbot reconnaissance robot provides real-time visual intelligence
to help you "know before you go." The Throwbot is rugged, stealthy, mobile, and
unfailingly dependable. Throw it through a window, over a wall, or down stairs and
it lands ready-to-go.
Once deployed, you can control its movement at a distance using the handheld Operator
Control Unit (OCU). This small and lightweight controller has a screen to show you
what your Scout is seeing, and its thumb-operated joystick makes it easy to operate
with one hand. Total setup time is under 20 seconds.
Available in double kits, which provide a spare Throwbot. Alternate frequencies
are also available, allowing operation of two Throwbots at the same time. Optional
Command Monitoring Station (CMS) extends range to 1,000 feet, records video and
stills (Windows XP or newer), and monitors up to three robots on different frequencies.
Recon Scout IR
The Recon Scout IR adds infrared imaging to the Throwbot, providing visual reconnaissance
in complete darkness. The IR optical system automatically turns on when ambient
light is low.
Recon Scout UVI
The Recon Scout® Under Vehicle Inspection (UVI) robot is used to visually inspect
the undercarriages of vehicles for explosives, drugs, and other contraband. Equipped
with sophisticated optical systems that operate in extremely low-light environments,
the Recon Scout UVI can transmit clear, crisp video of a vehicle undercarriage up
to 300 feet to a handheld Operator Control Unit (OCU), or up to 1,000 feet to a
Command Monitoring Station (CMS).
Because this device is small and portable, it is ideally suited to short-term security
situations that require vehicle inspections, including bomb squad reconnaissance
of suspicious vehicles, advance team reconnaissance along motorcade routes, police
roadblocks, and temporary checkpoints at the entrances to airports and large-scale
sporting events.
The ReconScout UVI can also be used in a permanent capacity at border checkpoints
and the entrances to secure government facilities. Its auto-focus optics and 60-degree
field of view allow inspection of the undercarriages of most vehicles with just
one pass, and unlike mirrored devices, provides a direct view of the undercarriage,
not a reflected view.
Recon Scout XT
Equipped with large motors, powerful drive trains, and aggressive wheels, the Recon
Scout XT gives you the speed, power and maneuverability you need in cluttered indoor
environments as well as in outdoor landscapes of dirt, sand, and rocks. Like the
Recon Scout IR, the Recon Scout XT is equipped with an infrared optical system that
automatically turns on when the ambient light is low, giving your team a big advantage
in the darkest of environments.
The Recon Scout XT is just eight inches long and weighs just 1.3 pounds, making
it very easy to carry and throw. Operate from up to 300 feet away with the handheld
Operator Control Unit (OCU). The robot may be specified in any of three frequencies,
allowing operation of up to three robots at the same time. Up to three robots can
be monitored from up to 1,000 feet away by the Command Monitoring Station (CMS).
Recon Scout Rescue
Designed for seach-and-rescue and hazmat operations, the brightly yellow Recon Scout
Rescue is equipped with infrared imaging that automatically turns on when ambient
light is low, allowing reconnaissance in complete darkness. Just seven inches long
and under a pound in weight, it withstands throws of 120 feet and can be thrown
through windows or doors, over walls, down stairs, and even dropped down a shaft
using the provided tether. The Recon Scout Rescue transmits clear, crisp video through
walls and debris up to 100 feet to the handheld Operator Control Unit (OCU) or 1,000
feet with the optional Command Monitoring Station (CMS). It can be specified in
either of two operating frequencies, allowing operation of two robots at the same
time.
